Public Trust Depends on Clear Authority

The interlocal agreement authorizing Davis County to verify statewide candidate petitions was not signed by the State until March 19, 2024, just weeks before the April 27, 2024 Republican State Convention. Signature gathering, however, had already been underway for months. It is reasonable to ask: what governed verification activities before the agreement was effective? Transparency starts with answering that question.
